Latest Call to Action From The MRF:

The MRF is asking for your immediate assistance at this time to contact your U.S. Senators. Please read the CALL TO ACTION below and click on the link provided.

*** This email is for the Senate version of the Ride in Freedom Act (S. 5274). You will also receive an email for the House of Representatives version. Please ensure that you respond to BOTH Calls To Action today! The Ride in Freedom Act (H.R. 10067 / S. 5274) would give adult motorcyclists in Washington, D.C., the freedom to decide for themselves whether to wear a helmet.

This is not a mandate against wearing helmets. If you choose to wear one, you absolutely can! The bill simply puts that decision in the hands of the individual rider. More than 30 states already recognize this freedom of choice for adult riders and more states have moved in this direction over the past several decades than have moved toward greater restrictions. The nation’s capital should be a bastion of freedom and giving adult motorcyclists the freedom to make their own decisions is a perfect example of that principle. Whether you live in Washington, D.C., or ride there as a visitor, motorcyclists deserve the freedom to make their own informed choices.

Take action today and tell Congress: Support the Ride in Freedom Act! Now we need your help! For years, the Motorcycle Riders Foundation has used software to automatically generate the emails sent to your legislators. This software is currently unavailable. Instead, we will try a more personalized approach, but this does require extra steps, as legislators no longer receive direct emails as part of SPAM prevention. Please follow the instructions below.

As your constituent and a motorcyclist, I am writing to ask you to cosponsor S. 5274, the Ride in Freedom Act, introduced by Senator Tim Sheehy. This bill is fundamentally about freedom of choice. It does not tell motorcyclists they should not wear a helmet. If you want to wear a helmet, you absolutely can. The bill simply allows adult riders to make that decision for themselves rather than having the government make it for them. More than 30 states already recognize this principle of individual choice for adult motorcyclists. In fact, over the past several decades, more states have moved toward allowing adult riders to make their own helmet decisions than have moved toward mandating what riders must or must not wear. Residents of and visitors to our nation’s capital should have the same freedom enjoyed by motorcyclists across much of the country. Washington, D.C., should not be an exception to the growing recognition of individual choice. I respectfully ask you to cosponsor S. 5274 the Ride in Freedom Act, and support the right of adult motorcyclists to make their own informed decisions. Thank you for your consideration and for representing our community in Congress.
